The Brief
Wallace Building Contractors delivered the concrete, formwork, and ComFlor flooring installation for Alpha Apartments, an eight-storey residential development located on a constrained inner-city site on Kent Terrace.
The project involved complex foundation construction, including heavy foundations and a car-stacker pit extending beneath the road reserve. Shotcrete and waterproof tanking systems were incorporated around the building perimeter, while 4-metre-high in-situ concrete walls and columns were constructed around the ground-floor car park to provide structural bracing for the building's steel frame. All formwork was supplied and installed by Wallace Building Contractors.
The upper floors utilised ComFlor 80 flooring systems with through-deck welded studs, supplied and installed by our Wellington Studwelders division. The successful delivery of the project required careful planning, technical expertise, and efficient construction methodologies to overcome the challenges of a tightly constrained urban site.
