The Brief
Wallace Building Contractors delivered the bridge construction works associated with the Black Creek flood protection and stream widening project in Wainuiomata.
Our scope included the demolition and removal of the existing pedestrian bridge, construction of new reinforced concrete bridge abutments founded on 30-metre-deep piles, and installation of a new precast bridge structure. Following bridge placement, Wallace completed the associated civil works including handrails, paving, landscaping, and integration of the structure into the surrounding flood protection scheme.
The project formed part of a wider stream widening programme designed to improve flood resilience and public infrastructure within the area. Careful planning and coordination were required to safely remove the existing structure and deliver the replacement bridge while maintaining programme requirements.
