The Brief
Wallace Building Contractors delivered the concrete construction works for the Boulcott Flood Protection Upgrade, part of the wider Hutt River flood protection programme designed to improve resilience for surrounding communities and infrastructure.
Our scope included the construction of approximately 400 metres of reinforced in-situ concrete retaining walls around Connolly Street, where the river road was realigned onto a new stopbank. The retaining walls, reaching heights of up to 2 metres, form a key component of the flood protection system designed to safeguard nearby homes, roads, and public infrastructure.
In addition to the retaining walls, Wallace completed a range of supporting civil concrete works including stormwater penstocks, cable protection slabs, access stairs, kerbing, channels, paving, and associated infrastructure elements required for the successful operation of the flood protection scheme.
