The Brief
Wallace Building Contractors delivered the decorative concrete works for the Greening of the Quays project, a significant urban enhancement initiative designed to improve Wellington's waterfront corridor.
Our scope included the construction of approximately 1.5 kilometres of decorative concrete road islands along Aotea Quay and Jervois Quay. The works incorporated exposed aggregate concrete finishes surrounding newly planted pōhutukawa trees, together with cast-in wind deflection screens and integrated uplighting infrastructure designed to enhance both the functionality and appearance of the streetscape.
Construction was undertaken within a busy transport corridor under carefully managed traffic control arrangements, requiring efficient planning and execution within restricted daily working windows to minimise disruption to road users.
