The Brief
Wallace Building Contractors delivered the concrete, reinforcing, and ComFlor flooring installation package for the major seismic strengthening, refurbishment, and extension of the Hutt City Council administration building.
The project involved the construction of a new four-storey annex incorporating a full-height atrium and glazed façade, alongside extensive strengthening works to the existing building. Our scope included replacement of the existing foundations with reinforced concrete foundation beams supported on piles, seismic upgrades to the exterior walls, and the removal and replacement of all existing concrete floors.
A key component of the project was the installation of a ComFlor 80 flooring system with through-deck welded studs, delivered by our Wellington Studwelders division. The combination of strengthening, refurbishment, and new construction required careful planning and execution to integrate modern seismic performance standards with the existing structure.
