The Brief
Wallace Building Contractors delivered the concrete construction works for the Wellington Airport Car Park and Concourse development, one of the largest building projects undertaken in Wellington in recent decades.
The project comprised a 10-storey car park and a two-storey airport concourse, creating approximately 48,000m² of new infrastructure to support the airport's growing passenger numbers. Our scope included large-scale in-situ concrete construction, foundations, raft slabs, columns, walls, beams, ramps, and structural elements integrated with an extensive precast concrete system. The development incorporated substantial reinforced concrete raft foundations, large-diameter columns, deep foundation beams, curved edge beams, and heavily reinforced ramp structures throughout the complex.
Delivered across multiple construction stages, the project required significant planning, coordination, and logistical management within a live airport environment. The scale and complexity of the works demanded close integration with precast installation, major crane operations, and ongoing airport activities while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.
