The Brief
Wallace Building Contractors delivered the in-situ concrete structure for the Whakamaru development, a landmark community facility developed for the Wellington City Mission.
Our scope included the construction of the reinforced concrete basement car park and associated structural concrete elements that formed the foundation of the multi-storey development. The works incorporated complex in-situ concrete construction, including retaining walls, stairwells, and specialised single-sided formwork installed against waterproof membrane systems. Careful planning and execution were required to achieve the structural and waterproofing requirements within a constrained inner-city site.
Whakamaru provides a range of essential community services, housing, and support facilities, making it one of Wellington's most significant social infrastructure projects. This project highlights our contribution to developments that deliver lasting benefits to the community.
