The Brief
Wallace Building Contractors delivered the concrete construction works for a 20-unit townhouse development on a challenging sloping site in Mount Cook.
To create usable building platforms, car parking, public spaces, and private outdoor areas, the site required extensive excavation and the construction of a substantial retaining wall network. Our scope included the construction of multi-level reinforced concrete retaining walls, some reaching 5 metres in height and 400mm in thickness, together with associated foundations and structural concrete works throughout the development.
The steep terrain and significant excavation depths required carefully staged construction methodologies, including temporary support systems and underpinning works to safely manage ground stability throughout the project. The complexity of the earthworks and retaining structures was a key factor in the successful delivery of the development.
